Salinas Valley Prison Overview

Salinas Valley State Prison, often shortened to SVSP, is operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at 31625 Highway 101, Soledad, CA 93960. The main phone number is 831-678-5500. Despite the Salinas name, the prison is in the Soledad area of Monterey County and is part of the state correctional system. It should not be described as a county jail. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office does not run SVSP, does not schedule its visits, and does not maintain its active state-prison locator records.

CDCR describes SVSP as providing long-term housing and services for minimum and maximum custody male incarcerated persons. The institution includes Level I, III, and IV custody, a minimum-support facility, two 270-design facilities, two 180-design facilities, a 100-cell Administrative Segregation Unit, a Correctional Treatment Center, Correctional Clinical Case Management System services, Enhanced Outpatient Program services, Mental Health Crisis Beds, and Disability Placement Program categories except DPV, DPH, and DPS.
